The Divine Mercy is an apparition attributed to Saint Faustina Kowalska, a Polish Saint who received visions and communications from Jesus Christ and Mother Mary during her time in a convent.
In these visions, Jesus Christ appeared with a red (representing the Blood of Christ) and pale blue ray (representing cleansing waters) of light emanating from his heart space. He requested that she pray to him at 3pm each day while focusing on the love that God has for everyone – especially sinners.
A painting of the Divine Mercy was created, and copies have been distributed for decades now as a way of meditating and praying on the ideals of the Divine Mercy. The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is used during such a time of prayer.
